Impact of Pollution on Fertility

Infertility is one of the major problems hampering the healthy married lives. It affects the propagation of a clan and poses serious threat on the physical and mental health of the person suffering from it. Sexual reproduction involves the fertilization of the male and the female gamete. Thus it is necessary that both the male and the female gametes are produced to their viable count. There are several natural factors that adversely affect the process of human reproduction. Generally these factors cease the production of required number of gametes in the body of the human beings. Pollution is one such factor that has seriously threatened the human life. Pollution has not only affected the sexual lives of the human beings but has taken its toll on the overall good health of man.

How it affects Fertility

There are several forms of pollution existing on earth having different types of effect on the human health. Generally man is exposed to the air pollution during the day. The air pollution introduces several of the suspended particles in the human system that adversely affects the health. The pollutants suspended in the air generally get mixed with the blood and poison the placenta that is the major source of nutrition for the fetus. Then there is water pollution, which enters the human system through direct consumption. The pollutants entering through the consumption of water spoil the available nutrient for the fetus in the female body. Once the internal system of the female body get spoilt the air available for the breathing of the fetus inside the body.

The other major form of pollution the sound pollution also has its grimmest of effects on the body of the fetus. The shrill vibration of the high pitch sound can damage the nervous system. All the pollutants acting together on the human body increases the amount of stress on the body. The high level of stress and deferred amount of nutrition in the body creates an imbalance of hormones in the body. The irregularities of the hormone secretion eventually affect the maturation of the male and the female eggs. Thus decreasing the sperm and the ovum count to induce infertility in the body.

There are several other ill effects of pollution on the human body that can be fatal. Thus it is important to practice habits that are to the best interest of the ecological balance of earth.
